Motores de arranque para BMW 328i

Starters for the BMW 328i

In order to start, the motor of your BMW 3 Series sport coupe, wagon, or convertible needs an input of air and fuel into its cylinders. The starter for the BMW 3 Series sport coupe, convertible, or wagon also requires a heavy current that is delivered through thick insulated wires from the battery. When the starter or any of its connections fail, they will need to be replaced in order for you to start the motor.

What are the types of BMW 328i starters?
  • Solenoid: The solenoid starter—the most commonly used starter in the BMW 3 Series—uses direct current power from the BMW sedans battery to engage a lever that pushes the drive pinion, which pushes on the starter ring gear of the motors flywheel. Turning the ignition key in the BMW 3 sedan initiates this process.
  • Permanent magnet: A permanent magnet starter can be used on BMW 3 Series sedans that have been retrofit. This type of BMW sedan starter repels the drive pinion on the drive shaft, which engages the ring starter on the flywheel and starts the motor.
  • Pneumatic: Pneumatic starters are for BMW 3 Series vehicles designed to use diesel or biodiesel fuel. They feature a small geared turbine and air compressor that release pressurized air from a tank to turn the turbine, which then engages the ring gear on the flywheel to start the vehicles engine.
How do you choose a BMW 328i starter?
  • Consider the type of engine: Select a starter that will coordinate with the number of cylinders in your BMW 3 Series models motor. In addition, consider whether the model of motor is turbocharged or naturally aspirated.
  • Select a manufacturer: Choose a starter that is made by BMW, Bosch, Denso, Remy, TYC, BBB Industries, or WD Express. The original equipment manufacturer part should be made to the same specifications as the original starter installed in your BMW 3 Series vehicle.
  • Select the fuel type: Choose a starter that is designed to work with diesel fuel or with gasoline, based on what your sedan uses.
How do you install a BMW 328i starter?

Make sure the key is out of the ignition, and then disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the positive cable from the starter. Disconnect all the bolts that attach the starter to the block and keep the starter in position. With two hands, lift the starter out of the car.

Mount the new BMW starter on the block, having someone hold it so that you can attach the bolts. Before fully tightening the bolts, reconnect the positive battery cable to the starter. Finish tightening the bolts. Reconnect the negative battery cable to the battery.
