Men's Casual Shoes

Men's casual shoes are a type of footwear designed to be worn with informal clothing, such as denim jeans, khaki pants, or shorts. These shoes are often made of a leather or canvas upper to help release heat and moisture from your feet. The casual footwear is designed with comfort and style in mind.

What features do casual men's shoes have?
  • No-scuff outsole: The outsole of men's shoes is usually made of white rubber or synthetic rubber. The rubber does not leave any scuff marks on the floor. The bottom of the shoe is usually treaded to provide you with a grip on slippery pavement or on muddy paths.
  • Breathable upper: Leather, cotton, and canvas are materials selected for a breathable upper on the shoes. This is important if you plan to wear sneakers, athletic shoes, or similar types of casual styles of shoes during hot weather or when you are physically active.
  • Cushioned or padded insole: Walking around all day puts a lot of stress on your feet, which is why shoes for men often feature memory foam or gel insoles and some arch support. These materials reduce the force and impact on the bones, ligaments, and tendons in your feet.
What are the different types of casual men's shoes?
  • Loafers: Loafers are a type of shoe made of leather that men wear with khaki pants or similar types of relaxed trousers. Loafers slip on and cover the top of the foot.
  • Oxfords: Oxford shoes are usually made of leather. Oxfords have eyelets for laces, and a thin lace keeps the Oxfords on your feet.
  • Sandals: Men's sandals may have a formed or flat foot bed. Sandals may have a leather strap or thong over the top of the foot.
  • Sneakers: Sneakers are typically made of canvas or leather. Sneakers are lightweight and lace up. Sneakers are often worn for informal sports or walking.
  • Boots: Boots are often made of leather. Boots keep men's feet warm and accommodate thick socks.
How do you choose the right men's shoe size?

Casual shoes for men are designed to be worn with a pair of socks. Sandals are the exception although designer shoes such as Birkenstocks can be worn with a pair of socks. When measuring yourself for a pair of shoes, be sure to wear the same type of socks that you plan to wear with the shoes. Measure yourself in the late afternoon, which is when your feet will have stretched and swollen a little from being on your feet during the day. Use a flexible tape measure and measure from the back of your heel to the tip of your longest toe. If you have high arches, be sure to follow the curvature of the arch rather than making a sort of bridge between your heel and the ball of your foot. Multiply your foot's length in inches by three and subtract 24.
