Jordan 11 sneakers were the first publicly available basketball shoe to feature an upper made of a luxe patent leather. It was also the first to feature carbon fiber in the sole. The Jordan 11 is specially designed for use in athletic and other high-performance situations.

All Jordan 11 models, including the Jordan 11 Adapt, feature a lightweight Phylon midsole. This comes complete with a full-length Air sole unit. It also retains the expected full-length carbon fiber plate, which contributes to support.

The Jordan 11 is available in a number of colors besides basic black. These include Concord, so named because of the grape color that is featured on the sole. There are a number of colors, including black and red, black and white, Snake Skin, and Retro Space Jam configurations.

These Jordan shoes originally received notice due to the highly unusual choice of material: patent leather. Before the debut of the Jordan 11, patent leather was largely reserved to create dress and formal shoes.

The Jordan 11 was designed by industry expert Tinker Hatfield. The designer worked closely with Michael Jordan to create this signature model. It represents the fruit of their collaboration at a time when Jordan was nearing his retirement from the NBA.
