GE Microwave Parts and Accessories

GE brand parts and accessories are available to make any necessary repairs and for maintenance needs. For example, a microwave may need a new filter or you may want to obtain the correct bolts to mount it above a range. If a GE microwave needs repair, acquiring the correct parts for a particular model helps to get it running again.

Why are effective filters for GE models so important?

A microwave requires a good filter in order to maintain the proper flow of clean air. Their job is to clean the pollutants out of the air that the microwave fan sucks in so that they aren't put back into the air.

What kind of filters can be used in the microwave?

There are grease filters and charcoal filters. A grease filter keeps grease out of the air when cooking. A charcoal filter is used for elimination of odors. This reduces the smells of previous meals running through the microwave every time you cook with your GE unit.

Why should you replace a loose door on your model?

Even when you take great care with parts like the door, consistent use of the appliance can lead to the door coming loose. If you cannot close the door, you cannot use the microwave. You then will probably be unable to control or turn off the lights inside the microwave without unplugging it. Replacing or fixing door parts should be done without delay.

What cleaning items do you need for your microwave appliance?

Brighteners and polishers are used for the outside of the microwave, particularly one that is stainless steel. Cleaning certain parts on your microwave may be necessary as well. Using a brush or cloth that is not abrasive to your microwave or its parts helps preserve the appearance of the appliance. Non-abrasive cleaning tools will not scratch or nick the microwave.

  • Allow the filters to soak for 10 minutes.
How do you clean a microwave?
  • Remove the filters from the hood: Most filters slide or pop out of the underside of the hood.
  • Fill a sink or bucket with boiling water: The hotter the water, the more effective it will be.
  • Pour in baking soda and dish soap: Add a good squirt of de-greasing dish soap and 1/4 cup baking soda into the hot water. Swish around with a brush until the water is nice and soapy.
  • Put greasy filters in water, making sure they are completely covered.
  • After soaking, scrub the filters with a non-abrasive scrub brush. Add more dish soap to your brush if needed.
  • Thoroughly rinse the filters in hot water and dry with a paper towel or clean cloth.
  • Replace the filters in the microwave.
