Tampas de válvula de Motor para Jaguar X-Type

Jaguar X-Type Valve Covers

The Jaguar X-Type has its share of fans, but at some point, owners of these vehicles may need to replace the engine cover. This is an important component that helps keep your automobile running properly.

What is the X-Type cover made of?

Like many covers produced for many of the autos on the road, the cover for the Jaguar X-Type is constructed of aluminum. This material is lightweight, and since the vehicle is a faster model of car, it also provides durable construction for the high-temperature environment that happens in this section of the automobile.

How many covers does the X-Type have?

As a V6, the Jaguar X-Type has two covers that each cover a branch of the “V” structure of the engine itself. As a result of this construction, the process of replacing cover components is slightly more involved than it would be on a four- or six-cylinder vehicle. The X-Type has two slightly different shaped covers on its V6.

Why does the cover need to be replaced?

The cover of your X-Type may need to be replaced if you are doing a V6 refit. Outside of that, the most common component of a cover that will need to be replaced is the gasket. This seal is the part of the cover that binds it to the body of the component. If you notice that there is oil pooling or leaking in this area, you will need to replace this Jaguar component.

This leakage happens partly because of the high temperatures generated when your Jaguar operates. When your engine is combusting to provide speed on your Jaguar, intense heat is created. The rubber body of the seal will start to gradually stiffen. Over time, as a result of this stiffening, your Jaguar gasket will start to be less oil-proof. This is when you will see leakage in your car’s interior.

Is oil leakage caused by an ineffective cover problematic?

When oil starts to leak, it will definitely cause problems with your Jaguar. If your Jaguar X-Type starts to lose oil, you will start to notice a gradual dip in performance. If oil starts to leak into your exhaust, spontaneous combustion can occur, which can cause backfiring, and potentially fires in the interior of your X-Type and near the transmission.

How can you detect an oil leak?

One of the primary indicators of an oil leak is the smell of oil as you drive your Jaguar X-Type. If you smell this, check the components for signs of oil leakage. Typically, around the body of the cover, you will see a black substance that is somewhat viscous. This is called sludge, and it is a key indicator that your car may need a new valve cover or seal.
