Peças de Pinça de Freio para Cadillac SRX

Caliper Parts for Cadillac SRX

A braking system is a critical component of your luxury Cadillac SRX. Brake calipers, also known as disc braking systems, slow your Cadillac SRX by applying pressure to the rotating wheels. A vehicle should never be driven without a functioning braking system or its corresponding accessories, so its important to know the signs of brake failure and decay in an SRX.

How does the Cadillac SRX disc braking system work?

Your Cadillac SRX has a disc braking system on the front set of tires. The system includes a metal disk attached to each front wheel. As you apply the brake pedal, the disc presses against the side of the tire, causing friction. That friction slows the spinning tire to a halt. One of the most important parts of the system is the brake pad. The brake pads are attached to the disc and prevent metal-on-metal damage each time the pedal is pressed. These Cadillac SRX parts are made of a high-friction material designed to withstand constant pressure. Without these OEM or aftermarket parts, your Cadillac would wear down quickly.

What Cadillac SRX disc braking systems are available?
  • Floating: The floating-style component has a single piston on the inboard side of the rotor. When the pedal is pressed, it pushes the disc into the side of the wheel to slow the vehicle down.
  • Sliding: Sliding-style components are very similar to their floating counterparts. They apply force in the same way, but a sliding-style component is mounted in a separate slot.
  • Fixed: Fixed-style components differ from the other varieties in that they have two, four, six, or even eight pistons. These components are mounted in a fixed position and do not contain sliding pins. Fixed models are generally considered to have higher performance than other options.
When does the disc braking system need replacing?
  • Leaking fluid: An obvious sign your braking system is in distress is the presence of leaking fluid. Fluid is a necessary component of the braking system, and any leak will lead to a lowering of performance. Any signs of fluid leaks on the side of tires or under the vehicle likely indicate a problem.
  • Unusual sounds: The engine will tend to make very unusual sounds when the calipers are failing. It can vary between high-pitched screeching to sudden thuds when the pedal is pressed.
  • Vehicle pulling: You will likely find your Cadillac SRX difficult to control if your disc braking system is failing. Wear and heat on the calipers can cause the pistons to lock up and freeze, which can pull your vehicle in one direction or another.
