Motores de ventilação para Ford Explorer

Ford Explorer Blower Motors

The main task of any climate control system is moving warm or cold air into the cabin. The blower motor drives the fan that moves the air into your Ford Explorer’s cabin and keeps your driving experience comfortable. You can find replacement motors that fit your Explorer and learn more about them here.

How does the Explorer’s blower motor work?

The blower forces air through the vents in the Explorer’s dash. When the heater is turned on, it moves through a heater coil and warms up. When the A/C is on, it moves through the evaporator and cools down. In this way, the blower provides the air flow for both climate control functions.

What causes the blower motor to stop running?

There are several common scenarios when a blower motor stops working properly. Often the problem is an electrical fault that stops it, and sometimes there are mechanical issues that can stop it. Below are some common blower problems:

  • Only one speed setting works: When this happens, the problem is an electrical fault in the relays that control the fan’s speed.
  • Doesn’t work at all: When this happens, it requires more troubleshooting, since it could be an electrical fault such as a blown fuse or a bad motor.
  • Makes loud noises: This indicates a mechanical problem. It could be the fan blades being obstructed, or the motor may be failing.
How do you know whether the motor is still good?

When you can’t get the motor to run, it can be a mystery whether it’s still good or not. The solution is to test the wires to the fan to see if there’s power reaching it and that its ground is good. Without both, a good fan won’t be able to run. Follow these steps:

  • Start up your Explorer and turn on the blower control.
  • Using a power probe, find a bare contact with the power cable and test whether there’s at least 12 volts present. If not, there’s a problem elsewhere preventing power from reaching the motor.
  • Do the same with the ground wire, checking if ground is present. If not, there’s a bad ground somewhere preventing the circuit with the motor from being completed.
  • If there’s 12 volts of power and ground reaching the motor, it needs to be replaced.
Where is the blower motor in the Ford Explorer?

The blower motor is mounted in the back of the engine compartment on the passenger side, behind the coolant reservoir tank.
