Nissan Rogue ABS System Parts

One of the most important safety features on your Nissan Rogue is the anti-lock braking system, also known as ABS. This system prevents your brakes from locking up in the event of an emergency. If you need to repair or replace the anti-lock braking system on your Rogue, there are many Nissan Rogue parts to choose from.

How does the ABS system work?

The anti-lock braking system in your Nissan Rogue is comprised of four pieces: the speed sensors, valves, pump, and controller.

  • Speed monitors: These monitors let the system know when the tire on your Nissan Rogue is about to go into a skid. These monitors are usually found on all four wheels.
  • Valves: The valves can be found on each brake line. These valves manage the amount of pressure on the tires to prevent skidding. The valves can decrease the pressure in order to stop the brakes from locking.
  • Pump: In the event that the valve has to relieve the pressure, the pump is in place to replace the pressure.
  • Controller: You can think of the controller as the computer of the system. It manages the sensors and the valves.

The system works by monitoring changes in acceleration and deceleration. If the monitors determine that the Nissan is decelerating quickly, the valve will reduce the pressure on the braking so that the tires will slow down at the same speed of the vehicle. The ABS is performing optimally when it keeps the tires at a consistent position before they lock up so that the driver has the most control of the Rogue.

What components in your Nissan require replacement?

While it is rare for there to be issues with the ABS braking system in your Nissan Rogue, over prolonged use and through normal wear and tear, you may need to replace some or all of the components of the ABS system. You may also need to replace them in the event of an accident. You may need to buy the parts individually or your may want to buy a kit that contains all of the four major components of the system for your Nissan.

How do you replace the anti-lock braking system in your Nissan Rogue?
  • Begin by using your manual to find the ABS system in your Nissan.
  • Remove the system from the solenoid block in your Nissan Rogue. You will have to unscrew any bolts that are holding it to the solenoid block and may need to use a flathead screwdriver to remove.
  • You are now ready to put in the new ABS module on your vehicle. You will install it on the solenoid block using the bolts you removed from the old one.
  • Once the ABS system module assembly has been replaced, it will need to be programmed to your Nissan Rogue.
